Ethnicwear is women’s favourite

Must Read

“Though young women in the country are turning to the convenience of westernwear for workplaces, high-end ethnicwear remains their choice for special occasions,” says India Apparel Report by Images F&R Research, published in Images Yearbook 2008.

According to the report, saris this year have shown more than 47.6 per cent value growth and 22 per cent volume growth in the super premium range. In the premium range, the category witnessed more than 34.7 per cent value growth and grew above 16 per cent in volumes.

Salwar suits and lehengas saw 48.8 per cent value growth and 25 per cent volume growth in the super premium range. This segment also saw a value growth of about 20 per cent in both medium and economic ranges.

This growth is expected to provide tremendous opportunity for emerging brands in saris, salwar suits and other ethnicwear segments, to fill the gap of unavailability of branded products in this category.
