Must Read

Strategic expansions and branding practices have resulted in double-digit growth for Giordano, one of the world’s leading international retailers of apparel and accessories.

In Middle East, the company witnessed 24 per cent top line growth for fiscal ending 2007.

“The growth in the Middle East has been fantastic and we have no plans of slowing down. We plan on targeting other emerging markets in the region and hope to achieve greater growth in 2008,” said Ishwar Chugani, executive director, Giordano, Middle East and Africa.

Giordano is expanding considerably in the Middle East as it launched 12 new stores this year, and aims to have 200 stores in the region by the end of 2010.

After recently launching in Egypt, the company also plans to expand its operations in Bulgaria, Armenia and Algeria. It also plans to enter the new markets like Libya, Azerbaijan and Africa.

In India, the group opened its third store in Ahmedabad earlier this year and one each in Delhi and Mumbai this month. In India, Giordano operates five stores and plans to open 35 stores by 2010.

Giordano currently operates 146 stores in the Middle East and India.

The company is also renovating and upgrading its existing stores with the investments of over AED 50 million. The plan is set to improve the shopping experience at Giordano stores, and support this by providing more variety to the customer.
