The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), India’s apex fashion body, has been commissioned by the ministry of external affairs and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations to organise a South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) fashion show on December 7, 2007, in Delhi.
The fashion show has been scheduled to coincide with the dates of the 29th SAARC Council of Ministers meeting, which will be attended by foreign ministers of all the SAARC countries.
“SAARC fashion show provides a platform for the designers of South Asian countries to work together, thus promoting the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding. This event will truly reflect unity in creativity amongst SAARC nations,” said Rathi Vinay Jha, director general, FDCI.
The SAARC fashion show aims to generate awareness about the rich cultural heritage through textile traditions and indigenous handicrafts and embroidery techniques of the SAARC nations
