GC Daga of Indian Oil will mull over retail prospects at IRF 2007

“Fuelling Retail Growth” will be the subject for Gyan Chand Daga, director (Marketing), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), at India Retail Forum (IRF) 2007, on September 4. Indian Oil Corporation is the largest commercial enterprise in India.

Daga is also the non-executive chairman of Indian Oil (Mauritius) Limited (IOML), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Indian Oil in Mauritius; Indian Oil Petronas Pvt. Ltd (IPPL), a joint venture with Petronas of Malaysia. He is also on the Board of Directors of Indian Oil Tanking Ltd (IOTL), a joint venture with Oil Tanking GmBh of Germany.

Additionally, Daga is chairman of LPG Equipment Research Centre (LERC), a society of oil marketing PSUs for promoting research in LPG equipment. He represents Indian Oil in the Industry Council of World LPG Forum.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Daga joined Indian Oil in 1975. He handled diversified portfolios including finance, international trade and consumer sales, besides heading the Indian Oil marketing set-up in Punjab and Rajasthan. In 2004, he was appointed as director (Finance), Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), where he worked for 2 years, before joining as director (Marketing) at Indian Oil in September 2006.

In his current capacity, Daga’s responsibilities include evolving and implementation of diversified plans initiated by the organisation in the last three years, maintaining sales volume and high market share of Indian Oil over the short and medium term, and fine-tuning the skill sets of employees, keeping in context the challenges created by entry of private sector in the downstream oil marketing.

India Retail Forum 2007 will be held on September 4-6 in Mumbai.
