Heritage Foods Forge Retail Drive — Enters Bangalore

Must Read

Heritage Foods has opened its outlet Fresh@ in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar, Jayanagar and Basaveshwaranagar. The outlets have an average retail space of 3,000 square feet, and nearly 30 per cent of the merchandise mix will stock fresh fruits and vegetables, with FMCG and non-food products making up the rest. “We’re ostensibly not looking at malls, but at neighbourhood locations with a two-kilometre-radius catchment area for each of our outlets,” informed the company spokesperson.

In an exclusive interview with IMAGES Retail, Hyderabad-based Heritage Foods (India) Ltd has revealed the expansion plans of its retail initiative Fresh@. By June 2007 the company aims at opening a total of 45 Fresh@ food-and-grocery outlets in the three southern cities of Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. By the first week of April, the company plans to open at least one outlet each in Chennai and Hyderabad. Currently, there are 12 operational Fresh@ stores in Hyderabad.

By late 2007, Heritage aims to have a retail presence in Kerala, and eventually a pan-India presence by 2009. The investment in the retail initiative so far has been to the tune of Rs 150 crore. Heritage is targeting a total of 100 outlets by the next fiscal (2007-2008), with an expected retail revenue of Rs 300 crore.

Heritage Foods (India) Ltd, a private sector milk and milk products company, is a leading distributor of milk and milk products in South India, with operations in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
