Sabyasachi Mukherjee opens flagship store in Mehrauli

Must Read

Master couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee added a new destination to Delhi’s map with the opening of a palatial 13,500sqft flagship store in Mehrauli.
The designer opted for Mehrauli as it has history, heritage and Qutub Minar. This place is close to the designer as earlier also he had his store at the same place. He is also grateful to House of Sunrydge, founded by Sanjeev Batra, for developing such a beautiful property.
The store had a glowing endorsement from Amitabh Kant, the force behind the grand Make in India initiative. The store in Delhi’s One Style Mile is a peek into the designer’s world: Tanjore paintings, antique carpets, Dutch plates, vintage art and French-era furniture sit elegantly with ittar bottles and artefacts curated from the bylanes of Old Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata.
A grand staircase divides the space. One wing features Sabyasachi’s ready-to-wear collection of kurtas and saris with a floor for menswear. The other is dedicated to his signature bridal wear. It is here that the magic of the grand Indian wedding comes alive with hand-painted chandeliers, mirrors and mood-lighting. Add to it the strains of shehnai, a whiff of incense and a scattering of jasmine flowers and you have a world you don’t want to leave in a hurry.
