TravelKhana joins IRCTC's e-catering line-up

Must Read

TravelKhana.com, the online meal-booking platform, has announced a tie-up with Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation’s (IRCTC) e-catering services. The company’s services will soon be available on the IRCTC’s e-catering website.
Travelkhana’s services will be available at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on the e-catering system. The online company has also expressed interest in launching services at 17 stations in the first phase.
“It is indeed an honour for us to be working with Railways through IRCTC as the partner of choice on their site. We have been working with Railways for a while to come out with a policy that will allow the passengers to be able to avail the service of their choice, rather than be limited and constrained by the licensed food suppliers,” Pushpinder Singh, Co-Founder and CEO, TravelKhana, said in a release.
The tie-up is a revenue sharing arrangement between the two companies.
Earlier in December 2015, IRCTC served a legal notice to Travelkhana alleging copyright and trademark infringement by the latter’s mobile app IR Catering. The railway catering company had claimed that IR Catering was deceptively similar in the name, colour scheme and design to the IRCTC’s own mobile application – IRCTC Connect. Travelkhana did take IR Catering off Google Play in a surprisingly quick move after receiving the notice.
