Amazon India signs MOU with NIESBUD to support SMEs

Must Read

Amazon India’s seller services unit has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) to help SMEs grow their businesses online.
Under the memorandum, Amazon.in and NIESBUD will work towards spreading awareness on potential of e-commerce for SMEs and empower them to leverage the opportunities that India’s growing digital economy offers, the company said in a statement.
The two will provide SMEs with necessary online selling and marketing training as well as faculty support online and offline.
“We have come across millions of Indian SMEs who are very entrepreneurial and have a hunger to grow but do not have the necessary skill-sets to manage an online business. We are working towards fulfilling this need of SMES in India,” Gopal Pillai, director, seller services, Amazon India said.
“Basic skill training is important to enable first-time sellers to get online and start selling. Till date, Amazon.in has impacted over 100,000 sellers across the country to leverage the digital economy to grow and scale profitably and we hope that through this initiative we are able to positively impact thousands of more sellers across India,” he added.
