Home,large appliances lead massive sales spurt on Day 2 of Amazon's Festive Sale

While yesterday Amazon announced that October 13, the first day of the ‘Great Indian Festive Sale’ was the biggest day yet in the history of Amazon India, the company said today that Day 2 (Oct 14) broke all records of Day 1 to emerge as the biggest day in the history of Amazon Fashion in India.
It also said that it was the biggest day ever in the history of the Home & Kitchen department on Amazon.in, recording a growth of 8X over last Diwali.
“The appliances category exceeded a week’s sales in the first six hours and the large appliances witnessed 3X sales growth as compared to The Great Indian Freedom Sale,” the company said in a release.
The etailer is running a mega sale for five days till October 17 to compete with ‘The Big Billion Days’ sale of its rival Flipkart and Snapdeal’s ‘Diwali Dil ki deal Sale’ that are also on at the same time.
Amazon.in shipped 60% of the customer orders in less than six hours, out of which 7% of the customers chose fast track delivery and 100% orders were fulfilled on time.
Additionally, the sale has also witnessed the increase in the number of customers from Tier III towns through multiple platforms – PC, mobile and the app.
“In the last two days, over 30% orders have been received from Tier III towns across numerous categories,. including apparel, shoes, home décor, kitchen appliances, TVs, consumer electronics, books, FMCG products, sports equipment and more,” the company added.
Snapdeal, which conducted a sale of electronic goods on October 12, also announced that the sale had exceeded its expectation with overwhelming response from customers across the country. The company recorded an increase of 17 times in revenue and was set to cross USD 100 million (about Rs 651 crore) in sales by the end of the day, it said.
