Goli Vada Pav on major expansion drive in South, to add 200 stores

Mumbai-based Goli Vada Pav is aggresively expanding its presence in South India as part of its target to open 1,000 stores pan-India in the next 5 years.
Goli currently has 140 outlets in South India with more than 100 units in Karnataka alone. It plans to open 200 outlets in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry region over the next five years.
“The South India region is the fastest growing market for Goli. Comprsing Telangana, AP, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, it currently contributes close to 40% to the total revenues of the company,” informs Venkatesh Iyer, CEO and MD, Goli Vada Pav.
To execute its expansion plan in South India, Goli has signed up a master franchise agreement with Passion Food Works for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry regions.
“In the last six months, we have have opened nine outlets in Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Of these, four were opened in Kerala alone. With this master franchisee, the plan is to open 200 units in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry over the next five years,” Iyer adds.
Under the agreement, the products for the franchisee stores would be supplied by the company. Goli will also look into the training of staff for these outlets.
The company has also rolled out a mobile app to enable customers to order for home delivery rolled out in few of its 85 stores in Bengaluru as a pilot market to understand customer buying patterns and price points. Alongside, it has launched Badapav.com, for placing orders online.
Launched in 2004, Goli Vadapav currently has more than 320 outlets in 88 cities across 19 Indian states. The company’s fiscal 2015 turnover was in the range of Rs 50 crore, and is expected to grow at 30% Y-o-Y in the current fiscal.
With a 1,000-outlets target, the company targets its sales turnover to touch Rs 350 crore in the next 3-5 years.
