VL Rajesh replaces Chitranjan Dar at ITC Foods

VL Rajesh, COO of ITC’s food business, has reportedly been chosen to replace Chitranjan Dar, who will take over as the corporate group head for central projects organisation, which executes all the group’s projects.
Rajesh joined ITC in 1990, beginning with the tobacco division, and moved on to  the special projects team responsible for identifying new business opportunities for the comglomerate.
ITC’s food business had clocked Rs 5,717 crore sales in 2013-14. It leads in the Rs 4,500-crore branded atta category, with its Aashirvaad brand sitting atop a 26 per cent market share. It is the third largest player in the Rs 21,000-crore biscuit industry, after Parle Products and Britannia Industries, though it leads the cream biscuits category with a 26 per cent market share.
Dar has been instrumental in the firm’s recent foray into packaged juice market by acquiring the ‘B Natural’ brand and was charting its entry into dairy business, which will take shape over the next couple of months.
