FDCI Partners with Amazon.com for IFW

The Fashion Design Council of India has recently partnered with Amazon.com for India Fashion Week which is scheduled to take place in the capital from March 25 to 29, 2015. The 25th edition of IFW’15 will take place at its traditional venue Pragati Maidan.
FDCI’s association with Amazon.in indicates the growing importance of online fashion purchasing. Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI shared “The idea to partner with Amazon.com is to take fashion from mortar and bricks to clicks and more clicks”. He further added “Amazon.com is not only the title sponsor for IFW. This partnership is a workable business module with long-term vision amplifying the business of fashion.”
Before Amazon.com, Wills Lifestyle has been the title sponsor for IFW for almost six years. However, now the fashion event will be title as Amazon.com India Fashion Week (AIFW).
Vikas Purohit, Head-Fashion, Amazon India said “At Amazon fashion among the top three categories. With this collaboration Amazon aims to take Indian designers and handicrafts to all the corners of India and then global. We believe we have the opportunity to partner with designers and brands to leverage the power of technology and provide unique experiences for their new gen customers across India and globally.”
At the official announcement, FDCI board members including Rohit Bal, Reynu Tondon, JJValaya, Rahul Mishra, Gaurav Gupta, Namrata Joshipura, et al; and Vikram Raizada, Director-Category Manager, Amazon were also present.
