Iconic Fashion Designer Oscar de la Renta Dies in Connecticut

American designer, Oscar de La Renta has died on Monday due to cancer complication. It is known that the 82 years old fashion designer was fighting with cancer from last eight years. During his last time he was surrounded with his family and his wife Annette de la Renta confirmed his sudden death.

A handwritten note on his death was given to the Associated Press signed by his stepdaughter Eliza Reed Bolen, her husband, Alex Bolen, and the CEO of Oscar de la Renta, who he appointed last week.

The handwritten note is featured on the homepage of Oscar de la Renta which confirms that ‘Oscar de la Renta passed away Monday night surrounded by family, friends and more than a few dogs. He died exactly as he lived: with tremendous grace great dignity and very much on his own terms.’

De la Renta is one of the iconic designers who has designed almost every big star, including first lady to Hollywood celebrities, Amy Adams, Sarah Jessica Parker and Penélope Cruz to name a few. Recently, Amal Alamuddin, human rights lawyer who tied nuptial knot with George Clooney wore his one of the finest creations.

His designing career started in 1950s in Franco’s Spain and later he moved to Paris and New York. The American designer was trained by Cristóbal Balenciaga and Antonio del Castillo. De la Renta received the global recognition in the 1960s as one of the couturiers who dressed Jacqueline Kennedy. During his journey he has also worked for Lanvin and Balmain.
