Aayna: One-stop Centre for Aesthetics and Wellness

Must Read

Dr Simal Soin, a well-recognised name in the wellness industry of India, has set up her own aesthetic and wellness centre called Aayna. She shares with Salon India the inspiration and the USP of the centre

Please tell us about yourself.
I’ve done M.Phil from the Cambridge University in UK and a post graduation in Dermatology from the St Johns Institute of Dermatology in London.

How did Aayna come up?
Aayna was born out of a dream to create something unique and timeless. It is a temple of beauty where we create and enhance beauty – both outer and inner. The idea was to give our clients a place where the desire to look and feel their best is met with at all levels and from head to toe.

What was the inspiration behind it?
We wanted our clients to be awakened to the highest level of service and leave our facility feeling that their every need was anticipated and addressed. The idea was to have a centre of excellence in the field of aesthetic wellness where the client feels a sense of total trust – in the treatments, in the expertise of doctors and aestheticians and where, lasting relationships are formed.

What is its USP?
A 360° approach to beauty and wellness. We believe inner wellbeing compliments outer appearance. A holistic connection between mind and body is recognised as an important aspect of beauty and skin care. Keeping that in view, we have incorporated various holistic programmes without dermatology and weight management divisions. We will be introducing Margaret Dabbs Foot Clinic is another one of our USPs. Available for the first time in India, these medical pedicures treat corns, bunions, warts, ingrown toe nails and cracked feet in a luxurious, painless manner so that you can walk better.

How many treatments or therapies are being offered as of now?
Aayna offers the finest cosmetic dermatology anti-ageing treatments using the latest skin care technology and innovations in the world. We offer weight loss and lifestyle modification programmes combined with smart dietary regimes; US FDA approved technology and body contouring treatments to melt those annoying bulges and inches; Dermalogica and Forest Essential facials, hair spas and oxygen-infused pedicures and manicures. The soul clinic at Aayna helps in exploring your spirituality, through our workshops and individual sessions by the masters in Reiki, past life regression therapy, chakra balancing, hypnotherapy, tarot cards, pranic healing and meditation.

Tell about the infrastructure.
Aayna is spread across 4,400 sq ft of space in Ambawata 1 in Mehrauli, Delhi. There are 11 rooms and three doctors and eight therapists.

How did you you pick and choose the therapists?
Skill can be taught, not attitude. We have handpicked the team based on this mantra and hired highly motivated professionals who have a strong yearning for learning and innovation, teamed with strong work ethics.

What is the most important aspect to keep in mind while setting up an aesthetic centre?
Safe, effective technology along with client comfort and a well executed confidentiality policy.

What is the focus on training?
There is tremendous focus on training at Aayna. We plan to routinely introduce exciting new treatments and technology to the country, finding already trained resources is rare. Even if new hires have experience of some of our existing technology, they are retrained as we have a strict protocol code. Only after they have finished 45 day extensive training are they cleared to do treatments on clients.

What are the expansion plans?
We are looking at opening centres in Dubai, Chandigarh and Hyderabad.

Your view on the aesthetic treatments available currently in the city.
Treatments should be standardised across the aesthetic wellness industry. There should be a regulatory body to ensure that ethical practices are observed and accurate information is imparted to the customer.
