Mugdha Savkar, Chef, Food Stylist & Food Researcher

Mugdha Savkar, a Hotel Managementa graduate from the Naval Institute of Technology, Colaba, Mumbai, is a food stylist and food researcher. Having trained at places like the Orchid Hotel and Oberoi Hotel, Mugdha got a chance to learn the nuances of food preparation and presentation in terms of food display.

A chance opportunity of assisting her teacher, Chef Michael Swamy during a food shoot landed Mugdha a job assisting Chef Michael full-time. Under his encouragement and support, Mugdha learned to cook for the camera and also learned to develop and edit recipes for cookery books ?and culinary equipment manuals.

As a food researcher, she has been involved in the theoretical aspects of many projects, a major one being Master Chef India Season 1 & 2 (Star Plus) wherein she worked on the Food Team. She has also been the Food Consultant on the TLC show “Ravinder’s Kitchen” with UK-based TV chef Ravinder Bhogal, as also on “Twist of Taste – Coastal Curries” with Michelin-starred Chef Vikas Khanna on Fox Traveller.

Mugdha has also worked with Chef Khanna on his books My Great India Cookbook, Savour Mumbai, Everyone Can Cook and the soon-to-be-released Bliss of Spices. She has also done the styling for the recently released book “Cheers!” by Sharmila Chand (published by Om Books International).
