Promart goes the franchise way, opens first store in Jodhpur

Discount retail chain Promart Retail has opened its first-ever franchise store in Jodhpur at Sadapura. Spread over 2,000 sq.ft., the outlet stocks brands such as Levis, Pepe, Wrangler, Lee, Spykar, Disney, and Stori and offers casual and formal wear for both men and women. Handbags and clutches for women will also be available at the store. In-house brands like TRAMORP, Profussion, and Protees are also available at the outlet. Merchandise at the store is priced between Rs 41 and Rs 2,239.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashish Garg, Managing Director, Promart Retail, said: “We are very pleased to announce our intent of establishing footprint with the launch of this store in Jodhpur. This is an attractive market for us and after successfully opening company-owned stores in various pockets of India, we think franchising is a great model to attain a faster turnaround with will enable us to achieve a better ROI in the long run. We plan to launch 100 more outlets in the next year which we have identified as potential retail markets via the franchising route which makes a good business proposition for us. The company is looking to clock in a turnover of INR 200 crore as a part of this model.”

Punit Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Promart Retail, said that the company is confident that the franchisee would turn the business around in a short span of time. He said that the company plans to expand its presence to cities such as Bikaner, Raipur, Udaipur, Bilaspur, Hyderabad, and Nadiad.

The retailer offers deals and discounts varying from 25 to 60 percent all year round. Currently, the company has a total of eight company-owned stores. Promart has also appointed franchisees in Maharashtra, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Haryana.

Launched by Provogue India, Promart was taken over by Apple Group of Companies and VEMB Lifestyle in 2011. Promart currently has stores in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Vapi, Anand, and Aurangabad. The chain retails brands like Agamic, Arrow, Arrow Sport, Black Panther, Buruburu, Calzini, Mufti, Copper Stone, Spykar, Poe, Provogue, Flying Machine, Fritz Berg, ID, Lee Max, Lee Cooper, Numb, Irony, Ira Soleil, Leonine, Proline, Stride, Veda, Veda Nxt, Amaltas International, Cliio, Deal, Go Leggings, Tanaya, Tippi, Catmoss, Gini & Jony, Palm Tree, Ink Fruit, X-Fit Jeans, Trendy Girls, Alamode, J.Hampstead, M & B, Black Silver, Leonidas, Lesley, Red Flame, 109’F, Sepia, Mufti, Puma, Clifton, Le Max, BeeVees, and All Season.
