Himalaya Optical ties-up with UK-based eyewear designer Tom Davies

Optical and eye care retailer, Himalaya Optical has recently tied-up with UK-based eyewear designer Tom Davies. Designed in London, the made-to-order collection will be available only at Himalaya Optical stores in India.

The new eyewear service will give customers the opportunity to select a frame in consultation with the store optician who will take the measurements in India. All the measured details will then be processed by Tom Davies state-of-the-art IT system, placing an order in the UK where the frames will actually be made with the name of the customer engraved on the inside of the arms. The final product will be delivered back to the customer in India in three-to-four weeks. The price range of the spectacles will be between Rs 25,000 and 30,000.

Commenting on the alliance, Tom Davies said: “It is a pleasure to be associated with Himalaya Optical in India. They are a trusted brand and are known for their quality and service which is what Tom Davies stands for. Besides offering our range of frames, we will also provide best service for the frames. Damaged frames will be taken directly to our London headquarters for repair. In certain cases, we might also change the frames as our primary concern has always been quality.”

Sarat Binani, Managing Director, Himalaya Optical said that the company has always been conscious of quality and service, thus it has associated with international brands such as Cartier, Versace, Gucci, and Prada. “It is an honour for us to have this strategic alliance with Tom Davies,” he added.

The range will initially be available at Camac Street outlet in Kolkata followed by all the stores of the retailer across the country.

Himalaya Optical was launched in the year 1935 by Manna Lalji Binani in Kolkata and currently has 57 outlets across India.
