Must Read

The partnership between Spar International and Dubai-based Landmark Group’s Max Hypermarkets India will come to an end in December 2012 as the two pursue separate strategies to grow their existing retail presence in India. The current license agreement between them will, therefore, not be renewed after December 31, 2012. The partnership had led to the launch of 13 Spar hypermarkets across five states in India.

According to the company officials, Spar now wishes to extend its footprint nationwide through new partnership arrangements with a range of national and regional retailers with a focus on new supermarket formats. Max Hypermarket is also in discussions with potential partners to expand their business in India.

Max Hypermarket India currently operates 13 hypermarkets across the country. The average store size of the chain is 50,000 sq.ft.
