Lavazza opens first coffee shop in India

Italy-based coffee brand, Lavazza has opened its first coffee shop “Lavazza Espression” in India at Connaught Place, New Delhi. Lavazza entered the country in 2007 by acquiring Barista Coffee Company and Fresh & Honest Café, a coffee vending and retailing company in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Attilio Capuano, Asia and Pacific Director, Lavazza, said: “Lavazza Espression is Lavazza’s ambassador around the world: The introduction of Espression in India is part of our long-term strategy to strengthen the Lavazza brand and get customers to experience the rich flavors of Italy. We want to offer to Indian consumers the full Lavazza experience, made of ambiance, overall quality, and excellent products. The first opening will be followed by an expansion plan to open Lavazza Espression stores across key metros in the country o
ver the next 12 to18 months.”

In 2010, Lavazza’s turnover was around €1.146,8 bn, according to company officials. Lavazza Espression has 30 stores and is present in cities such as Barcelona, Turin, Milan, London, Dublin, Seoul, Chicago, and Beijing. It will also open new outlets in the United States and across Europe as a part of the company’s international expansion plan to develop new partnerships and projects in Far East, Central and Eastern Europe, United States.
