TRRAIN ties up with Aptech for retail education

Must Read

Non-profit Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India (TRRAIN) has announced a tie-up with computer education major Aptech to develop retail management and effective communication skills of people employed in the sector. The collaboration aims at training 20,000 people in 3 years in major cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad. Aptech will be providing content, training and the academic support processes to run the training program, while TRRAIN will provide the infrastructure required (be it mobile education centres or classrooms) at retail dominant locations like malls and high streets to conduct these programs.

Under the partnership, the two will jointly develop training modules to help retail associates perform more efficiently and effectively in their jobs.

Speaking on the development, B. S. Nagesh, Founder, TRRAIN, said: "The retail sector in India is witnessing a revolution where traditional markets are coupled with emergence of department store and malls. Rated as the fifth most attractive market in the world, the sector demands skilled man power. We believe our tie–up with Aptech will enable us in upgrading lives of people in retail both at work and home."

Ninad Karpe, CEO and MD Aptech, said that the partnership announces Aptech’s entry in the retail sector. The company has designed an interactive course coupled with conventional learning to assist retail professionals.

Currently, the Indian retail market size is $450 billion and is estimated to reach US$ 650 billion by 2015. In order to grow in this sector India requires a large pool of skilled workforce. It is estimated that about 5 million personnel would be working in modern retail trade by 2015, but there exists a huge gap between the talent pool available and the demand for skilled manpower. The initiative taken by TRRAIN and Aptech aims to bridge this gap by equipping individuals with latest skills to cater to retail industry-jobs. The two have drawn long-term plans to leverage the TRRAIN-Aptech training model for a pan-India rollout of retail training using containers as well as launch of the content at Aptech centres.

Founded by B S Nagesh, TRRAIN has been established with a vision of ‘empowering people in retail. The trust is committed to helping people in retail upgrade their lives both at home and at work. TRRAIN is an 80G Certified Trust and TRRAIN Foundation is a section 25 company which has been formed to carry out various activities of the Trust.

Aptech is an ISO 9001:2000 IT Training and Education company present in more than 40 countries having over 1300+ learning centres across the world.
