ibibo appoints Krishna Motukuri as MD, E-Commerce

ibibo, an Internet and mobile product company, has appointed Krishna Motukuri as Managing Director of its e-commerce business. Motukuri will be responsible for driving online shopping and classifieds platforms.

Ashish Kashyap, CEO, ibibo Web said: "We are very excited to get Krishna on board to partner with us to build out our various e-commerce businesses. Krishna has lots of entrepreneurial and e-commerce experience which will enable us to further scale our current properties and develop new ones."

Prior to joining the ibibo, Motukuri was associate director at Amazon, where he spent seven years leading teams in divisions such as search, co-op marketing, global expansion and supply chain. He also co-founded Amazon’s Bangalore center in 2004 and left the company in 2006 to raise venture-funding and start Ugenie, a comparison shopping site. Ugenie was acquired in 2008 by Lulu.com. Motukuri became senior vice president of business development at Lulu and formed partnerships with Apple, McGraw Hill, Google and others.

Graduated from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, he earned his Master’s Degree from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

ibibo is jointly owned by South Africa’s Naspers and China’s Internet company, Tencent. The company owns social gaming and e-commerce platforms in India.
