Reliance Retail launches first hypermarket in Mumbai

Reliance Retail has launched its first hypermarket in Mumbai, called RelianceMart, at the Acme Mall.

This is the first RelianceMart in the city and 12th in the country. Spread across 80,000 sq.ft., with four floors, the hypermarket stocks a range of over 20,000 products catering to the family.

The outlet will offer a wide range of products ranging from fashion clothing, consumer electronics, home ideas, leisure, beauty and style, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, grocery, telecom, gift items, entertainment, to health and wellness products. Apparels, footwear, eyewear, cosmetics and fragrances, and fashion jewelry will also be available in the store.

RelianceMart provides its customers with "RelianceOne," a membership loyalty program, designed to deliver customized benefits to frequent shoppers. Under this scheme, customers can earn RelianceOne Points on all shopping in the store which can be redeemed after accumulation. The scheme already has a membership base of more than 6 mn customers.

Reliance Retail Limited (RRL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, opened its first retail store in November 2006 and currently operates more than 1,000 stores in over 86 cities, spanning 14 states and serving over 2.5 mn customers every week. RRL is a multi-format retailer that operates hypermarkets, supermarkets and cash-and-carry stores. RIL had a turnover of 2,58,651 crore (US$ 58.0 bn), cash profit of 34,530 crore (US$ 7.7 bn), net profit of 20,286 crore (US$ 4.5 bn) and net worth of 1,51,540 crore (US$ 34 bn) as of March 31, 2011.
