Nautica to hike store count to 30 by 2012

Must Read

Nautica, the premium apparel and accessories brand for men, has opened two exclusive stores in Mumbai at the Oberoi Mall (2171 sq.ft) in Goregaon and Infiniti Mall (1750 sq.ft) in Malad.

Mohit Seth, business head, Planet Retail, said,”Apart from achieving good top line numbers, Nautica stores should become a benchmark in terms of customer service and store fit-outs. The idea is to create a strong repositioning of the brand Nautica.”

Talking about the expansion plans, he added,”We will be looking at 10 stores by end of this year and all the Nautica stores will be company owned unlike some of our competition. By the end of next calendar year, we will take the store count to 30.”

“The franchise route leads to dilute the brand equity and hence we will stay away from it,” he emphasised.

Nautica is brought into India by Planet Retail Holdings Pvt Ltd. Some of the other premium international brands brought into India, by Planet Retail include Accessorize, Guess, Next, Debenhams and the latest to join the bandwagon is the homegrown brand Lavie – a handbags brand for fashion-conscious women.
