Kajaria launches Vitra brand in JV with Eczacibasi of Turkey

Leading ceramic tile maker Kajaria Ceramics Ltd, in a 50-50 joint venture with Eczacibasi of Turkey, has launched the Vitra brand of sanitaryware and bath-fitting products in India. The JV has also launched a 3,000 sq.ft ‘Vitra-Kajaria World’ showroom at JMD Regent Plaza in Gurgaon.

Ashok Kajaria, CMD, Kajaria Ceramics Ltd, said, “This strategic collaboration provides an excellent platform to strengthen our value chain for our end customers. The partnership will help in achieving the desired critical mass, by leveraging our strong brand and distribution network across the country, coupled with the innovative product line of Vitra.” The five-year JV is also looking at possibilities of manufacturing in India.

Husamettin Onanc, president, building material division, Vitra, said, “We are excited to partner a premium brand like Kajaria in India. We strongly believe this partnership will go a long way in providing Indian consumers the best products in the sanitaryware segment.”

Vitra products will be showcased in all 12 Kajaria World showrooms across India.

Meanwhile, Kajaria Ceramics Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs.17.59 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010 against Rs.8.27 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, the company said in a statement.

The company reported net sales of Rs.253.66 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2010 against Rs.179.70 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2009, it added.

Kajaria Ceramics has announced an EPS of Rs.2.39 for the quarter ended December 31, 2010 as compared to Rs.1.12 for the quarter ended December 31, 2009.
