Tirupur & Karur to show their produce

Must Read

R.A.M.P., a sourcing show, will showcase a thematic presentation directly from the manufacturers of Tirupur and Karur. The exhibition will be attended by an invited audience comprising the leading domestic national brand owners and stakeholders from the retailing spectrum – speciality stores, discount stores, department stores, hyper-marts/super markets, convenience stores and MBOs. The event will held on August 30-31, 2010 at Vidhya Karthik Kalyana Mandapam, Tirupur.

“R.A.M.P. is an event targetted at the Indian domestic market, showcasing the capabilities of knitwear manufacturers and home textiles manufacturers for the domestic brand owners, boutique owners and retailers through the display of the latest collections for the forthcoming buying season, showcased on the ramp. It has been long felt that there is a need for a forum which provides opportunities for the buyers from the domestic retail sector, especially in the area of knitwear and home textiles, to source their requirements and interact with suppliers," informed Nanda Gopal K, Managing Director of Vision Trade & Exhibitions, the organizers of the event.

“Currently, entire capabilities of Tirupur and Karur have not been sufficiently exposed within the domestic market and manufacturers who are keen to enter and expand their presence in the domestic market are unable to do so for want of exposure and contacts. R.A.M.P. – The Sourcing Fair is an effort to bridge this gap.” informed D. Dhandapani, Deputy Director of Textiles Committee Tirupur who are the Strategic Advisors for the event.

“In the current method of sourcing the buyer is unable to source from the entire collection capabilities of the Knitwear Cluster – Tirupur and Home Textiles Cluster – Karur for want of sourcing options. Similarly the manufacturers who are keen to enter and expand their presence in the domestic market are unable to do so for want of exposure and contacts. The R.A.M.P. – The Sourcing Fair is an effort in that direction.” added G. Venugopal, Cluster Development Executive, Textiles Committee Tirupur.

The fair provides for the first time opportunity for manufacturers of knitwear and home textiles to showcase to the select customers their latest collections for the forthcoming festive season. For the attendees, the event aims to give them a glimpse of the capabilities of the knitwear cluster, thus giving them options in terms of suppliers and variety in terms of sourcing new and innovative designs and collections for the forthcoming season.

Flamboyance – the fashion demo on the ramp, is an unique feature in which the budding designers from the regions in co-ordination with the exhibitors will be showcasing the latest product developments. This feature is expected to showcase 50 sequences of collections.

Knitwear will be an extensive and exclusive collection of cotton and blended garments for men, women, and children. Apparel on display will include t-shirts, Golfine Polo shirts, pullovers, cardigans, dresses, night wear, skirts, leggings, hooded t-shirts, sweat shirts, shorts, bustiers, pyjamas, blouses, swim wear, track suits and more.

Home Textiles will presnt a collection of cotton and blended home textiles and furnishings for homes and institutions including bath mats, carpets, bath robes, bathroom curtains, non-slip bath mats, shower accessories, towels, bed linen, blankets, duvets and pillows, mattress protectors and more.

Tirupur is an important textile hub of India known for its knitwear production and also called as the `Knitwear Capital of India`. Tirupur is a major source of foreign exchange for the country because of its exports. The state accounts for nearly 90 % of India’s cotton hosiery and knitwear produced for both domestic and international markets. Their produce accounts for an estimated Rs.12,000 crores.
