LA Fashion Weekend returns

Must Read

Los Angeles Fashion Weekend , which will return to Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood for its fourth season on October 15-17, 2010, has announced their first group of designers. The event will feature a combination of individual and group shows from both emerging and internationally-established designers.

“Having produced LA Fashion Week events under Smashbox for years, it was important to me to keep the event going when they left this market,” explains Mikey Koffman, owner of The Gallery LA and founder of LA Fashion Weekend, “Which is why I continued their tradition and have been producing this event for the past two years. The Los Angeles fashion industry is an undeniably powerful part of the local economy and cultural landscape that supports more than 134,000 jobs. LA Fashion Weekend provides invaluable marketing, sales and business connections for the lines that show during the invitation-only event.”

LA Fashion Weekend will kick off on Friday, October 15 with the headliner show featuring White Trash Beautiful, a line designed for the femme fetale. This edgy and modern chic line is a collaboration from Bon Jovi guitarist, Richie Sambora, and designer-musician, Nikki Lund. The following evening will showcase fashion-forward looks by Los Angeles-based designers JL Marks and Joy Rich.

In addition to supporting designers, LA Fashion Weekend also benefits The Green Youth Movement, the official host of the Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show held on October 16. This show will be the only open-invitation event during LA Fashion Weekend. Ticket sales will be handled by Green Youth Movement and the entire proceeds will benefit environmental awareness campaigns for kids and teens. Green show designers Emily Factor and Jonano share a dedication in producing ethical and eco-chic fashion.

Complementing LA Fashion Weekend, The Gallery LA has teamed up with Elle Communications to produce the 2010 New York Press event slated for September 23-24 at the Agent Red Showroom. The press event will provide 20 fashion brands with an unparalleled branding opportunity to expose their collection to industry influencers. Similarly, The Gallery LA will host the Design Suites on site at LA Fashion Weekend.
