The luxury home fashion brand Maishaa, from the house of A K Retail Inc, opened two more stores in the country. Situated in Surat, Gujarat, the 1,100 sq.ft store is Maishaa’s store in Gujarat and the entire western region of the country. The exclusive store in Kolkata, spread over 1,500 sq.ft is the brands’ first in the entire eastern region of the country and its third in India.
Speaking exclusively to IndiaRetailing, Arun Garg, president, A K Retail Inc says, “The total retail space occupied by exclusive stores and shop-in-shops would be around 7,000 sq.ft by March 31, 2010. The investment in interiors of these stores is around Rs.15-20 lakhs and is Rs.35-45 lakhs towards stock. We will be launching two stores in March at Mumbai and Hyderabad, one store in Delhi by June followed by one in Bangalore by October 2010.”
Garg adds, “We have high expectations from Kolkata and Surat, as these places are long been known for its literary, artistic and revolutionary heritage. We ventured into exclusive retail format in December last year with our first franchise operated store in Delhi. We are now looking at a total of 25 such outlets across India by the end of the fiscal in March next year.”
“In the multi-brand format Maishaa has presence in 60 outlets of various retail players such as Home Stop and Debenhams. Now, our aim is now to double points-of-sale to 100 multi-brand outlets by March 2010,” he informs.
