HyperCity plans expansion – sees new opportunity

HyperCity Retail (India) Limited planns to open at least three new HyperCity stores in the financial year 2009-2010.

The stores would be covering approximately from 80,000 to 100,000 sq ft. of area which would be bigger in size than the recent HyperCity store opened in Jaipur. According to Ashutosh Chakradeo, head, food & grocery, HyperCity Retail (India) Ltd., “Although we are planning to open these new stores in the current fiscal year but the locations of the stores have not yet been finalised. We are in the process of discussion with the developers.”

HyperCity provides a hypermarket format and has a product range varies from foods, homeware, home entertainment, hi-tech, appliances, furniture, sports, toys and clothing.

The first Hypercity store opened in Malad, Mumbai in May, 2006, spreading over 120,000 sq.ft. of retail space. The second store opened at Inorbit mall, Vashi in Navi Mumbai in October 2008 spreading over 80,000 sq. ft. and the third store covering over 40,000 sq. ft. of area opened recently at Triton mall in December, 2008 in Jaipur.
