The long waited Mexican QSR chain — Taco Bell — is finally entering India, with a minimum of two outlets set to open during quarter four of Yum! Restaurants International. In an interview, Vinod Mehboobani, VP- business development, Yum Restaurants India, stated, “We will be opening Taco Bell this year and we have planned a minimum of two stores which will be opened around quarter four (September-November).”

Mehboobani further informed that the tentative launch city for Taco Bell would be between Mumbai and Bengaluru. The preference of location for these two Taco Bell outlets, which are in the process of being finalised, would be a high street and a mall.

Further, Ashok Bajpai, GM, Yum Restaurants India informed: “The first few outlets in the country will be company-owned and depending on the response the brand gets, Yum! will put in place a strategy for future growth.”

Commenting on the pricing strategy of Taco bell outlets, Bajpai stated, “Taco Bell is known globally to deliver outstanding value at every price point. It is a very good time to get in something which is Mexican-inspired food, at prices which can be compared with street food. Therefore, we will be able to cater to a wider range of customers at all price levels with three of our popular global brands.”
