Reliance Retail-Pearl Europe JV opens ‘Vision Express’ in India

The newly formed JV of the two largest business conglomerates—European optical major Pearle Europe and India’s leading business conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd’s subsidiary Reliance Retail Ltd (RRL)—has opened its first outlet in Bengaluru. Branded as ‘Vision Express’, the store offers a wide variety of fashionable and trendy optical products at unmatched affordability to its customers, said a company press release.

The chain has also been associated with a leading hospital and research centre —LV Prasad Eye Institute —to offer free eye tests to its customers at the store.

Jarek Widomski, CEO, Vision Express, said, “India is a very potential market in terms of growth when it comes to eyewear products. Vision Express is here to offer the latest and best quality products from leading countries so that the Indian customer is exposed to the best.”

“Our association with LV Prasad ensures that our eye care specialists are of the highest standard,” added Widomski.

Bijou Kurien, board chairman, Vision Express, said, “The launch of Vision Express marks the beginning of a new revolution in the optical industry in India. We hope to revolutionise India by blending world class optical technology and products with superior training to deliver a superlative and affordable experience for the customer.”

The 50-50 JV further plans to open outlets in many more cities in India in the next three years.
