Muralitharan to feature in KFC’s new ad campaign

Must Read

Yum Brands-owned quick service restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has launched a new brand campaign. The new compaign will feature ace Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, with an aim to reinforce its ‘Finger Lickin Good’ food proposition.

Commenting on the campaign, Unnat Varma, marketing director, KFC said, “The new campaign aims to achieve a big brand feel. It takes up from where the previous campaign on enjoying a bucket of chicken with friends left off. Muralitharan’s signature bowling style provides a perfect fit for this campaign and helps bring out the lust consumers have for our products.”

Conceptualised by Ogilvy and Mather’s advertising veteran, Piyush Pandey, the ad shows Muralitharan in the cricket field preparing for a spell of bowling by wetting his fingers. Suddenly, forgetting all about his beloved sport he remembers the finger licking good taste of KFC’s popular Zinger burger that he had just before the match. The first advertisement from the campaign will go on air on 21st November.
