Palador partners MusicWorld, Crossword to retail movies

Intending to take leap ahead and release world cinema titles independently from its vast collections, Palador Pictures, one of India’s direct and online movie retailers, has tied up with MusicWorld, Landmark and Crossword to retail its entire collection across India. With this association, over 1,000 Palador’s world cinema titles will now be available at over 45 retail stores across the country, said a company press release.

Elaborating Palador’s independent foray into home video retail, Gautam Shiknis, founder and managing director, Palador Pictures, said, “Home Video retail is a crucial part of our integrated plan to promote world cinema across all mediums available in the country today. Palador is pleased to announce the association with leading organised retail chains like Landmark, MusicWorld and Crossword to retail its titles across India.”

“With this relationship onboard, we intend to release 50 titles subsequently during next quarter and henceforth, reaching sales figure to half a million copies by 2010,” added Shiknis.

Vikas Sharma — head, brand communication and alliances—Palador Pictures, said, “We are in talks with more such retailers and very soon will announce the development.”

The Palador’s catalogue include films by Bergman, Chaplin, Keaton, Kurosawa, Kieslowski, Godard, Trauffaut, Kiarostami, Lynch and many more and are priced at Rs 399 each.
