Croma to foray as a private label for high margins

To boost its profit margins, Croma, the consumer electronics and durables retail chain from the house of Tata, plans to launch its private label. According to company sources, Croma is looking at various product ranges which are in demand by the consumers. At the same time, the comapny is also planning to phase out the products that give low margins.

Meanwhile, the company is yet to decide the investment and time of launch.

Croma, promoted by Infiniti Retail — a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons, will cover a wide range of electronic products. With plans to add 12 new stores by March 2009, the company currently has 23 stores in the country.
