Woolworth to launch 40 more JV stores in India

The leading Australian retail company, Woolworth Ltd, running JV stores with Tata Group in India, is planning to launch 40 more stores in various cities of south India within the next one year. At present, the JV runs 23 stores across India under the name ‘Croma’.

Commenting on the JV, Debra Singh, general manager-consumer electronics, Woolworth Ltd, said, “In India our collaboration with Tata consists of selling 70 per cent of electronic goods such as computers, colour televisions and 30 per cent white goods such as washing machines and dish-washers.”

According to this three year old JV, Woolworth is responsible for providing all the products for stores, while Tata’s responsibility is to build up the network of electronic retail stores across India.

Currently, ‘Croma’ operates in four Indian states– Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Delhi.
