SatNav Technologies makes aggressive retail foray

Must Read

SatNav Technologies, India’s global positioning system (GPS) pioneer, has tied up with major consumer electronics retail giants including Tata’s Croma, Reliance AutoZone, Future Group’s E-zone and Staples. The tie up will make SatNav’s products available to customers in more than 100 stores across major metros in the country.

According to the press release, the IT products company has invested around Rs.100 million towards its retail strategy across six cities —Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The strategy includes dedicated counters, earmarked GPS zones and store specific branding on the products to be done on a continuous basis.

Commenting on this development, Amit Prasad, founder MD and CEO, SatNav Technologies, said, “GPS is a growing market that has a great potential, but we need to focus on educating the market. Our stores will enable customers to get a hands-on experience of the GPS devices and buy the product suitable for their needs.”

SatNav assisted stores will have SatGuide products like personal navigation device (PND), personal digital assistant (PDA), navigation software for laptops and Windows mobile, and bluetooth receivers. “To give the GPS segment a wider perspective we are adding extensively to our product portfolio and creating new vertical markets for laptop and desktop software,” said Prasad.
