Yatra eyes Maharashtra for expanding retail biz

Must Read

Maharastra has turned out to be a viable ground for the country’s leading online travel company Yatra.com, which recently announced its plans to set up two more outlets of its ‘Holiday Lounge’ range in the state. The company currently operates two lounges in the state with one each in Mumbai and Pune.

Speaking to the media about the company’s retail expansion, Ashish Kishore, business head for hotel and retail initiatives, Yatra.com, said: “Maharashtra is a hub of commercial and entertainment activities. The business opportunities of the state as well as its high standard of living attract migrants from all over the country, which gives rise to a constant flow of both inbound and outbound travellers and makes Mahrashtra a key market for Yatra.com.”

“With the launch of ‘Holiday Lounges’ in Maharashtra, we are looking at tapping the innate potential of the region, offering one stop shops for all travel related needs and giving customers the opportunity to research and plan holidays in a leisurely, convenient and comfortable environment,” he added.

The revenue generated by the company through this venture currently stands at around Rs 1,500 crore, which it expects to increase by 30 per cent by this fiscal.
