Shell asks employees to look for new jobs

Must Read

Shell India, one of the leading fuel retailers in the country, has asked some of its employees to look for new jobs.

Deepak Mukarji, Shell India’s head of corporate affairs, in a statement said: “Some employees undergoing training are being asked to look elsewhere, with due compensation being given to them according to their contract. But, some have also been absorbed at existing sites.”

Following the Indian government’s refusal to grant subsidies to private sector petroleum players, Shell India has decided not to launch any new fuel retail outlets in India. The company was planning to increase its investment in India by 25 per cent during the current calendar year.

However, unlike Relaince Petroleum, Shell will not shut down any of its existing fuel retail stations. Earlier, Indiaretailing had reported about Reliance Petroleum’s move to shut 900 company-owned petrol stations for similar reasons.
