Adding glitters to its retail cap, jewellery is the number seven retail format from Reliance, launched on Thursday, in Bengaluru.

Offering over 10,000 jewellery designs, the store covers 6,000 square feet in three floors. The first floor offers diamond jewellery while the top-most floor presents exclusive bridal collections along with a private viewing room.

“It has always been the endeavour of Reliance to provide consumers with a wide range of high quality products at competitive pricing. Reliance Jewels is yet another of our efforts to bring a unique shopping experience with the assured purity and certification of gold and diamond jewellery to Indian consumers,” Bijou Kurien, president and chief executive, Reliance Retail Limited (RRL), told Indiaretailing.

Offering traditional jewellery from all corners of the country, in addition to dailywear designs, the price points at Reliance Jewels ranges from Rs.1,500 to a few lakhs. All gold jewellery are 100 percent BIS hallmarked, while all diamond is certified by an international certification laboratory. The store also offers basement valet parking facilities in a city where consumers suffer from an acute space crunch.

Speaking to Indiaretailing on the jewellery format’s business strategy, Bijou Kurien shared, “Following this Bengaluru outlet, we shall open our next outlets at Hyderabad and Ludhiana by the end of this fiscal. Our target is to open 300 jewellery stores in three years’ time. We eventually plan to enter tier-II towns too, with customised offerings and commensurate store sizes in accordance with store locations.”

“It is very fitting that we’re launching this format here in Bangalore, a city where RRl’s lifestyle business is headquartered. Bengaluru is a market that is growing by leaps and bounds; it is witnessing the influx of people from different parts of the country, creating a very cosmopolitan culture. Just the right market for us to experiment on with our jewellery store,” added Kurien.
