Mainetti in expansion mood — to prop up GOH concept

Must Read

The growing business of retail has given a good boost to all related businesses. The UK-based Mainetti Worldwide, one of the largest hanger manufacturing companies in the world, is investing $1 million for a manufacturing facility in Chennai. The company is also expected to come up with an additional facility in and around Delhi.

“With the boom in retail and the fashion business, the demand for garment accessory has been growing for the last five years now. There was a time when Mainetti was being imported in India, and now we export from here as we have set up a good manufacturing base,” Rajesh Menon, vice president, marketing, told Indiaretailing.

The company claims to have introduced the Garments on Hangers (GOH) concept worldwide and will promote the same in India. This service assists apparel manufacturers and retailers as it reduces delivery time from production facilities to retail stores.

When asked what is it that sells best in India as compared to the western or the European markets, Menon said, “There’s not much difference in the quality of produce for India. We have products in all categories, be it the high-end hangers for luxury labels, the customised hangers as per demand, or the supermarket hangers for the mass segment. Mass segment has almost 60 per cent sales share.”

Mainetti has operations in 24 countries across the globe. The company entered India in 1997 through a joint venture with a local hanger manufacturer and recently acquired 100 per cent shares of the Indian operations and formed Mainetti India, the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary in the country.
