Must Read

Daily Bread Gourmet Foods India Pvt. Ltd, which runs branded retail chains like Daily Bread and Deluca Frozen Desert, plans to storm the national bakery and confectionary market by launching 250 Daily Bread outlets and 100 Deluca’s Frozen Dessert outlets in the next three years. The company plans to open 65-70 Daily Bread and Deluca’s Frozen Dessert outlets across the country in this fiscal.

“We want to establish Daily Bread as the leading brand in the bakery and confectionery sector in India and position it as the country’s first world-class purveyor of premium bakery, confectionary and speciality food products for wholesale and retail clients,” Arjun Sekri, founder and CEO, told Indiaretailing.

Currently, there are 14 Daily Bread outlets in Bangalore, Mysore and Mumbai, while seven Deluca’s are operational in Chennai, Bangalore, New Delhi and Mumbai. It also has one production unit in Bangalore.

The company will open Daily Bread outlets in New Delhi and Hyderabad (August), Chennai (September) and Mumbai (October). The Deluca’s outlets will be both shop-in-shops in a Daily Bread outlet and standalone stores.

“The retail expansion includes launching outlets under three formats. The small one, sized about 200 square feet, will be set up inside hypermarkets; takeaways, with an average retail area of 500 square feet, and premium stores, sized 1,000-1,200 square feet, will be the other two formats,” Sekri informed.

The branded chains retail a wide variety of bakery and confectionary ready-to-eat food items like breads, cakes, pizzas, salads, ice-creams, rolls, European-style loaves, cookies, chocolates, gourmet speciality foods, sandwiches, and veg/non-veg savouries.

Daily Bread launched its first wholesale bakery and kitchen in Bangalore in November 2003. The company aims to launch wholesale bakeries and kitchens in the top ten metros in India over the next three years.
