K Mukund is COO at Odyssey

K Mukund has been appointed chief operating officer of leisure store chain Odyssey.

A post-graduate in Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, forty-year-old Mukund has over 14 years of professional experience in sales and marketing with leading FMCG brands like Coca Cola, Wrigley’s, Brylcreem, Scotch Brite, Kiwi, Henko and Fa. His last assignment was with Coca Cola as general sales manager in Chennai.

On the appointment, TS Ashwin, managing director, Odyssey, informed, “Mukund brings with him tremendous knowledge and understanding of brands and its operations after his successful stints with multinational brands. He will be responsible for business deliverables from retail operations, sales & marketing, and supply chain management.”

The new COO said, “My immediate job on hand is to drive efficiencies in operations, logistics and marketing. I have a fair understanding of retail business, being associated with major FMCG brands and dealing with organised retail chains. Working for Odyssey means that I have an opportunity to implement the best industry practices to grow this brand and take it to world-class standards.

Odyssey, which stocks a wide collection of books, music, cards, stationery, gifts, toys, multimedia and magazines, has 16 stores in all – 6 in Chennai, 2 in Hyderabad, and one each in Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Noida, Nagpur, Salem, Trichy and Varanasi. The company is expanding into newer markets across the country with expansion plans in place for adding 265,000 square feet of space this year.
