    Marks & Spencer had started its Indian operations in December 2001 with two outlets, at in Delhi and Crossroads in Mumbai. In all, there are 12 operational stores in India at the moment – 3 in Mumbai, 2 in New Delhi, 2 in Bangalore, and 1 each in Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow and Gurgaon.

    For fiscal 2007, posted a 29 per cent jump in pre-tax profit to GBP965.2 million. The group has announced intentions to evaluate further expansion in China and India.
