US restaurant group Mark Pi International recently opened three restaurants in Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Surat covering total of 3,000 sq.ft of retail space. The restaurants called Mark Pi’s Crazy Noodles are 100 per cent vegetarian. The company plans to set up 10 such restaurants in Gujarat and Ahmedabad as Vadodara is the next destination. “Gujarat is a very potential state plus it was a challenge to come up with a pure vegetarian model given the cuisine sensitiveness of the state,” said, Karana Verma, Chief Executive Officer, Trak Services Private Limited.
As for the future plans, the chain would be covering all the metros and mini metros by investing over Rs.80 crore in next five years. Mark Pi International has ambitious plans of opening over 300 outlets in India within a span of five years. “Following the franchisee format, we are planning to total 20 outlets by the end of 2007, targeting an average of 1,500 sq.ft of retail space,” added Verma.
Mark Pi will introduce local store marketing programme as it plays an important role to increase foot traffic in the restaurants and the company is also going to promote the brand in mass media – Press, Radio and Outdoor and the internet.
Asian Concepts, Inc., partnering with Delhi based Trak Services Private Ltd currently operates Mark Pi restaurants in Ludhiana and Haldwani besides the ones in Gujarat and more are on their way in NCR, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab.
